Tom Sutter is a multi-threat professional – the serious job that pays the bills, the fun job that pays the heart and soul and a soon to be published author, inspirational speaker and travel guide to success in business. At DS&P Insurance Services, Inc. (www.dspins.com) in Palatine, Illinois, Tom has taken on the business development and sales leadership roles which involve the recruiting, training and development of commercial insurance producers while maintaining and growing his own book of commercial insurance and employee benefits clients. Though they account for a small fraction of the total production team, Tom’s direct team consistently accounts for the majority of new business written.Tom also co-founded and is the president of Cal’s All-Star Angel Foundation (www.calsangels.org), a 501c3 non-profit organization located in South Elgin, Illinois, that grants the wishes of children battling cancer and financially assists their families. Tom’s duties include chief fundraiser, branding, marketing, accounting and legal representation. Since 2007 Cal’s Angels has raised over $1,800,000 after expenses allowing them to assist over 500 families, sponsor the two oncology floors at the new Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, provide twelve $10,000 college scholarships and provide funding to allow less privileged young boys and girls to play baseball and softball.Having lost their oldest child, Cal, to leukemia in August of 2006, Tom and his wife Stacey (Cal’s Step Mom) enjoy spending their spare time assisting other families battling pediatric cancer to help cope with their mental, emotional, spiritual and financial struggles through their non-profit organization, Cal's All-Star Angel Foundation. Their children are also actively involved in carrying on their older brother’s legacy of always caring about others above anything else.Training and coaching has been a part of Tom’s life since his college days. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Northern Illinois University where he was also involved as a pledge trainer with the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Having a blended family of seven children, including Cal, whom are all active in sports, Tom enjoys spending his spare time coaching one or more of their baseball and softball teams each spring and summer. All of Tom’s life experiences, including the loss of his oldest child Cal to leukemia in August of 2006 at the age of 13, provided the impetus to write a book based on the principle that no matter what life throws at you there is no reason to let anything but you and your mind control your destiny. All of these “life experiences” also lead Tom to migrate over to the coaching, mentoring and speaking arenas. You will laugh, cry and learn how to turn horrible negatives into positives, you will learn about business branding, marketing and sales training but most of all you will learn that you can succeed in life if you want to succeed in life – your destiny is in your hands with the only limitation being your own hopes, dreams, desires and mental fortitude.

Stacey Sutter

Vice President - Wish Granter

Stacey is the backbone of Cal's Angels. She manages to run a household of 5 children, host a monthly hospital party at Lurie Children's, run the 12 Days of Christmas Program, plan and host the GOT HOPE Gala, Grant Wishes for over 150 children each year and is always an ear for the families that we support every day. She understands what these families are facing each day during their child's battle with cancer, because she lived it. It is hard to manage a household and take care of your other children when one of them is sick. Her goal is to help these families in a small way, when she knows they need it the most.

Letter from the Founders

Dear Friends,

At a gathering of friends and neighbors in our living room in March of 2007, the concept of what would soon become Cal’s All-Star Angel Foundation (Cal’s Angels) was created in memory of our oldest child, Cal Sutter, who lost his 14 1/2 month battle to leukemia at the age of 13.1173633_603805779702803_2080152181_n

While our growth continues at a steady pace and our program offerings have increased at the same rate, we have never wavered from our mission of granting wishes to kids fighting cancer and financially assisting their families. In just over six years we have raised in excess of $1.8 million allowing us to impact the lives of more than 500 children and their families through our various programs, all the while ensuring that 90 cents of every dollar has gone towards the cause.

Our goals in the years ahead include the ability to take care of every child in the Chicagoland area who is fighting any form of cancer, expanding to other areas of the State and country, create awareness for pediatric cancer clinical trials through collaboration with other like-minded organizations and increase the percentage of cancer research dollars that goes toward pediatrics from less than 4% to a meaningful percentage that expedites finding a cure.

The best news we will ever hear is that there is no longer a need for Cal’s Angels because children no longer suffer from cancer. Until then, we will continue to concentrate on the quality of life aspect of this horrible situation families are unwillingly thrust into by continuing to grant the wishes of kids fighting cancer and financially assisting their families. Cal’s Angels will continue to be an efficient conduit between donor and recipient, as we have always been, so you can be assured that every dollar donated to Cal’s Angels will go a long way in helping us continue with our mission.

As we continue to fight the good fight we ask that you too support us in our mission and help us help these kids and their families!

Our Heartfelt thanks,
