The 2nd Annual Cal’s All-Star Angels’ 5K Run took place this fall at the Sports Core of Thornwood in South Elgin.  Over 400 participants and 70 volunteers came together to support the Foundation and raise awareness of childhood cancer.  Through corporate sponsorships, pledges, donations and race fees this year we raised a little over $12,500.  100% of the event’s proceeds are dedicated to our Wish Granter’s and Financial Assistance Programs and because of our participants and generous donors and sponsors; we will be able to help at least 17 kids and their families – THANK YOU!

To raise awareness Joan Kelley, mother of Will Kelley who was scheduled to speak but ended up listening in by phone from the hospital, and Amanda Jensen, Leukemia survivor (top right photo), shared their heart touching stories about their battles with cancer.  We honored each of our Angels and All-Star children and their families with a ceremonial release of gold balloons – the official color of pediatric cancer awareness.  THANK YOU again to all who joined us in helping these kids and their families!
