United Airlines' Operation North Pole

The Foundation recently donated $1000.00 in the form of a $500.00 Target gift card and a $500.00 Best Buy gift card to United Airlines Operation North Pole 2007.  The gift cards were used to purchase items on the wish list of 50 Chicago-area children with serious illnesses including Leukemia, Crohn's Disease, Spina Bifida and other cancers.

The Fantasy Flight to the North Pole took place on Saturday, December 8th, 2007 after the children, their parents and siblings boarded the plane at one gate and "flew" to another that was decked out in Christmas Cheer.

In addition to Santa and Mrs. Claus, another well known attendee was Lovie Smith, Head Coach of the Chicago Bears.  Ronald McDonald and other clowns were present to perform for the families.  View the Operation North Pole 2007 Photo Gallery.
