Scholarships

Each year, Cal’s Angels’ independent Scholarship Committee selects and awards two college scholarships to senior baseball players – one from South Elgin High School and another from St. Charles North High School who excel academically and socially and who will honor the memory of Cal Sutter with their actions on and off the ball field.

  • Brett Huisman, South Elgin High School

    Congratulations Brett! It is clear that this baseball player is also very family oriented and would put his family above all else. This is evident in that Brett gave some of his college money to put towards a car, put off getting his driver's license and gave up his injury rehab schedule to help care for his sister. [Read More]

  • Travis Misner, St. Charles North High School

    Congratulations Travis! Cal’s Angels was impressed with Travis’ work in the local community. He is an all around volunteer who does everything from helping his autistic neighbor (Travis says he learned more from him) to helping special needs kids in PE (he wanted to make a lasting impression so that life is a little bit easier for them). Travis states that his parents taught him to believe that “what goes around comes around.”  [Read More]
  • Michael Mastalski, St. Charles North High School

    At the time of application, Mike had a GPA of 3.535 and was ranked in the top half of his class with a 22 on his ACT. Mike also has played baseball since he was five years old and has played for teams in Aurora, Wasco and Burlington – he also plans to play baseball for his first choice in colleges – Carthage College which, by the way, was made possible for him to attend through the Foundation’s scholarship.   • Kyle Daker, South Elgin High School

    At the time of application, Kyle had a GPA of 4.35 on a 4 point scale, was ranked 9 out of 392 in his class and a 30 on his ACT. Kyle has played baseball since he was five years old and when he’s not playing for the high school, he plays for Bartlett travel. [Read more]
