Please say hello to John David Ivey. He is a one and half year old little boy and also one of many who have received a wish from Cal's Angels. He was born on August 22, 2017, and was diagnosed with Bilateral Rentablastoma cancer in his eye at the age of 4 days old.
John started receiving chemotherapy when he was a week old and had to have a chemo port placed in his chest for almost a year. He received chemo treatments for 6 months. He is currently going to Lurie Children's Hospital every month for bilateral eye evaluations, laser treatments, and is receiving cryotherapy on a new tumor that has become active in his right eye. John David also has no central vision in his left eye. Even though he is going through all of this, he doesn't let anything stop him from being a happy active baby. When he comes home from the hospital after being under anesthesia for several hours; he rests for a bit and then wants to get up and go play. His family is very thankful to Lurie Children's Hospital and Cal's Angels for all the love, care and support they have given John David and his family throughout his cancer journey.
Cal's Angel's was honored to grant John David's wish for a wonderful first birthday celebration and also be a recipient of their North Pole Fantasy flight program.
At only 4 days old, John David was diagnosed with Bilateral Rentablastoma.
